Garden is off to a great start!!!

The garden is doing really well, especially considering it is only in it's second year and we had to have soil brought in to supplement the soil we had here. Excellent topsoil is hard to come by so we added leaves and other debris in the fall to help build and enrichen the soil.

Our potatoes are doing exceptionally well and we should be sitting down to a meal of first pick green beans and new potatoes in about 3-4 weeks.......YUM!!

We have tomatoes about 1 inch in diameter and peppers about an inch long.

Our "baby" is growing up:{

Lydia went to the Jr. High Prom last night......she even wore a dress, but I'm proud to say that she stayed true to her individuality (pay close attention to her shoes)......that's our Lydia!!!

Lydia was caught working in the GARDEN..!!!

Garden is doing great!! This is the 2nd year and we have more time to do it right since we aren't in the middle of construction like we were last year.

It was time yesterday to stake our Tomato plants. Lydia helped with this and actually seemed to enjoy it (go figure)!!

Welcome to our BLOG

We're the Gabbards, Dad (Dave), Mom (Chris), and Daughters (Lydia and Lauren) and we are going to share our experiences of our life in the mountains. We bought our cabin in the Smokey Mountains in August of 2008. We made the permanent move to "Gabbards Getaway" in July of 2009. It's been quite a transition, but everyone seems to be settling into our new lifestyle.
